Next Up: The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds by Paul Zindel Raleigh Ensemble Players Theatre Company presents the Pulitzer Prize and Obie Award winning play The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds by Paul Zindel. Performed in REP’s upstairs studio space at 213 Fayetteville Street, ‘Gamma Rays’ is a semi-autobiographical drama, based on Zindel’s own experiences growing up in a single-parent household, that focuses on an eccentric, embittered widow and the two teenage daughters she must raise.
Zindel refers to this play as “a love letter to my teachers and the entire public school system that served as a salvation for me and my sister from the madhouse.” Featuring: Whitney Griffin, Lori Ingle, Karen Stallings, Sandi Sullivan and Alex ter Avest Directed by Jesse R. Raleigh Ensemble Players Finds A New Home on Fayetteville Street
Raleigh’s nationally recognized theatre company and the Triangle’s oldest producer of powerful, provocative and penetrating theatre has taken center stage on Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh. For 28 seasons, REP has entertained, challenged and inspired area audiences with its unique brand of storytelling and now, they are happy to be a vital part of the energy and excitement of Downtown Raleigh. REP inhabited their new space at 213 Fayetteville Street this summer becoming a visible resident fully invested in the renaissance of Downtown Raleigh. Raleigh Ensemble Players Theatre Company was created as a collective reflecting many voices in the community committed to maintaining an ensemble ethic where artists and seasoned professionals work together toward a common goal of creating theatre experiences. As an ensemble, we take on all the roles involved in the collaborative process of creating new theatre and give members the opportunity to write, act, direct, design and produce. REP recently garnered national recognition when it was named the inaugural recipient of the Tony Randall Theatrical Fund’s Tony’s HOPE Award (Hats Off for Performance Excellence) in New York City.
